To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, pursuant to his answer of 28 June 1999,Official Report, columns 56–58, concerning education initiatives launched since May 1997, how much of each initiative's budget was (a) spent centrally and (b) distributed in grants in financial years (i) 1997–98 and (ii) 1998–99. The programmes listed in my right hon. Friend's response of 28 June are all specific grants distributed by my Department. None of these funds were spent centrally.
