§ Mr. Chaytor
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on Government policy relating to consumer choice in the purchase of vitamin and mineral supplements.
§ Ms Quin
[holding answer 25 October 1999]: Consumers are currently able to choose from a wide variety of vitamin and mineral supplements sold under food law. The Government have no plans to limit access to supplements that are lawfully sold under food law unless this is necessary for the protection of public health.
