§ Dawn Primarolo[holding answer 15 March 1999]: About 6.4 million married couples who benefit from the married couple's allowance have no children eligible for child benefit. Another 0.3 million married couples have children eligible for child benefit but who are all over 16. These estimates are based on the Family Expenditure Survey.
