To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions he has held with other EU member states about Britain joining the euro. [74944]

There has been no recent discussions on joining the Euro in EU Council meetings. We do, however, keep our partners informed of the Government's position, most recently following the statement by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on 23 February 1999.
