To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list the human rights abuse towards Christians in India on which he has received reports. 
§ Mr. Fatchett
We have received various reports of attacks on religious minorities in India. The following table, giving the number of attacks against Christians in India in 1998 and to 20 February this year, was provided by the Indian Minister of Home Affairs to the Indian Parliament on 24 February. I have raised our concerns with the Indian authorities on several occasions most recently during the visit to London by the Indian Prime Minister's national Security adviser, Mr. Mishram, on 20 January.

While we do not keep comprehensive records of telephone calls, we are not aware of any contact between representatives of the Chilean Embassy and the FCO on 14 October.
