§ Ms Quin[holding answer 9 March 1999]: At the General Affairs Council on 22 February, which my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary and I attended, the UK pressed hard for endorsement of a Trade & Cooperation Agreement between the EU and South Africa. My hon. Friend the Prime Minister has also urged member states to support the latest deal, most recently at the informal European Council on 26 February.
