Kate Hoey
The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police tells me that data on the number of prosecutions for violent racial crime are unavailable. The Metropolitan Police Service do not currently record information on the number of such crimes which were prosecuted in the courts.
However, data are available on the number of charges and summons for violent racial crime, by police district and per 100,000 head of residential population for the financial years 1997–98 and 1998–99. Data are also available on the ethnicity of the victims of violent racial crime, per 1,000 head of resident ethnic population for those years. This information, provided by the Commissioner, is set out in the tables:
