To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make it his policy to change departmental refrigeration and air-conditioning systems to operate on not-in-kind refrigerants. [86166]

The policy of this Department is to ensure that no products containing CFCs, HFCs, Halon Carbon tetrachloride 1,1,1, methyl bromide or any other ozone depleting substances are purchased.

The Department continues to look at alternative methods of refrigeration wherever practical.
