296WThe Secretary of State for Social Security has asked me to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question about the current position in relation to the war pension case of Mr. Kenneth Winter of 98 Church Street, Langford.Mr. Winter has an outstanding appeal against our 50 per cent assessment of his service related disablement for the period 22 December 1994 to 5 August 1996. All relevant papers are now with the independent Pensions Appeal Tribunal (PAT) office. The PAT is completely separate from the WPA and is administered by the Lord Chancellor's Department. The PAT office has been unable to give us a specific date for the hearing but anticipates that the appeal will be heard during September 1999. They will send full details to Mr. Winter within the next two weeks.
