The administration of cold weather payments is a matter for Peter Mathison, the Chief Executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to the hon. Member.

Letter from Peter Mathison to Mr. Eddie O'Hara, dated 27 July 1999: The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your recent question asking if he will provide a breakdown of cold weather payments paid in Scotland in 1998–99. During the 1998–99 winter in Scotland there were 11 occasions when cold weather payments were triggered. This resulted in the issue of 11,293 payments, totalling £95,990.50. Details are provided in the attached table. I hope this is helpful.
