§ Mr. DenhamThe Higher Education Funding Council for England announced the allocation of 684 extra medical student places to Higher Education Institutions on 22 June 1999. These were in addition to 158 places that had already been allocated earlier this year. An announcement of more than 100 further places is planned for the spring of next year.
