HC Deb 26 July 1999 vol 336 cc61-2W
Mr. Beith

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what forecast he has made of the number of local child curfews (a) applied for and (b) implemented, in the first year of the provision being available; and if he will make a statement. [92885]

Mr. Boateng

I have not made a forecast. Applying for a local child curfew is optional for local authorities, to be considered in the light of the wider crime and disorder strategies they are developing under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and of the outcome of local consultation.
