To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many casualty department modernisation schemes are planned this year to (a) provide for expansion or redevelopment and (b) improve telemedicine links. [92928]

Of the 169 Accident and Emergency modernisation schemes going forward this year, there are 63 involving expansion and redevelopment. A further 45 schemes involve redesign or general refurbishment of Accident and Emergency departments. In addition 34 schemes will improve telemedicine links.
