To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he next plans to discuss the issue of former prisoners of war with the Japanese Government. [90483]

The view of successive UK and Japanese Governments is that the issue of compensation under the San Francisco Peace Treaty has been settled.

We regularly discuss with the Japanese ways to promote reconciliation.
