To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what changes he intends to make to(a) section 8 of the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986 and (b) section 83 of the Companies Act 1989. [90328]

[holding answer 8 July 1999]: I have no specific intentions to amend section 8 of the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986 but subject to available parliamentary time it would be my intention to introduce legislation to provide for a consent order regime.

I have no intention at present to seek to amend section 83 of the Companies Act 1989.
