§ Mr. VazThe remit of the working group on Extension of the Brussels Convention was to report on the possibility of extending the scope of the Brussels Convention on Jurisdiction and the Enforcement of Judgments in Civil and Commercial Matters to matters of family and succession law, and subsequently to establish a draft Convention on jurisdiction and recognition and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial matters. The remit of the Rome II working group was to examine the need for and feasibility of drawing up a Convention on the law applicable to non-contractual obligations. The remit of the working group on Revision of the Brussels and Lugano Conventions was to revise the provisions of those Conventions, respecting the basic principles and objectives of the Brussels Convention, taking into account the case law of the European Court of Justice on the Brussels Convention and relevant decisions of national courts on the Lugano Convention, and examining all proposals with a view to their potential usefulness in the operation of the Conventions.
