To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to ensure that the police give more information to victims of crime about action being taken. [89239]

Interim findings from pilot projects established to see how the Victim's Charter commitment to keep victims informed might best be met were promulgated in Home Office Circular 55/1998 of 23 December 1998. Following final evaluation, we hope to issue good practice guidelines to the police, and other agencies, later this year.
