HL Deb 08 July 1999 vol 603 c112WA
Lord Alton of Liverpool

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the allegations contained in the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz of 11 June that MI5 had prior knowledge of the attempted assassination on 3 June 1982 of the then Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr. Shlomo Argov, are correct. [HL3363]

Lord Williams of Mostyn

It has been the policy of successive governments not to comment on the operations of the security and intelligence agencies. In line with that policy, I do not propose to comment on the newspaper's allegations.
