To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what qualifications are needed for membership of the Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes; and if he will list the members of the committee. [89525]

Mr. Rooker

Members of the Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes (ACNFP) are appointed by Ministers so as to ensure that the Committee has a broad spectrum of relevant scientific expertise and knowledge at its disposal, including that in nutrition, microbiology, genetic modification, food technology, immunology, toxicology and allergy. In addition it has members with experience in consumer affairs and ethics.

The membership of the ACNFP is currently as follows:
