HC Deb 27 January 1999 vol 324 c291W
Miss Geraldine Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if there is a target time limit for the payment of the Back to Work Bonus. [66824]

Angela Eagle

The administration of the Back To Work Bonus is a matter for the Chief Executive of the Benefits Agency, Peter Mathison. He will write to my hon. Friend.

Letter from Peter Mathison to Miss Geraldine Smith, dated 26 January 1999: I am replying to your recent Parliamentary Question asking if there is a target time limit for the payment of the Back To Work Bonus (BTWB). The Back To Work Bonus scheme was implemented by the Benefits Agency with the introduction of Jobseeker's Allowance. There is an internal target relating to the timing of the payment of the BTWB. We aim to pay 65 per cent. of claims in 2 days and 95 per cent. in 10 days. However the emphasis is on the accuracy of payments. I hope you find this reply helpful.
