HC Deb 18 January 1999 vol 323 c295W
Miss Geraldine Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what are the current arrangements for repayments of debts by Nicaragua and Honduras to the British Government. [65338]

Ms Hewitt

I have been asked to reply.

At the Paris Club meeting on 9 December the UK agreed to grant a three year moratorium on debt service payments from Nicaragua. Nicaragua need not make any payments to the UK Government before 2001. The government have already cancelled all debts owed to the UK by Honduras.
