HC Deb 25 February 1999 vol 326 c406W
Mr. Jenkin

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, pursuant to paragraph 2.7 of "Breaking the Log Jam", how many and what proportion of responses to "Developing an Integrated Transport Policy—an Invitation to Contribute", supported the view that congestion charges would be valuable and effective. The Department's publication"The Government's Consultation On Developing An Integrated Transport Policy: A Report" contains a tabular analysis of the comments made by respondents on a number of demand management measures, including congestion charging and a levy on private non-residential parking. In each case a majority of those referring to those two measures were in favour. Copies of the report were placed in the Library at the time of publication, in July 1998.
