To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will investigate reports that car headlights are setting off migraine attacks. [72517]

I can confirm that the possibility of new car headlights setting off migraine attacks is being considered as part of a current research project that the Department is carrying out into glare from headlights.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what representations he has received concerning the effect on migraine sufferers of the use of intense white lights on car headlights. [72518]

The Department has received two representations on this issue. The possibility of new car headlights setting off migraine attacks is being considered as part of a current research project that the Department is carrying out into glare from headlights.
