To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what measures the Government will take to ensure an adequate supply of youth workers. [70298]

The supply of trained youth workers is a matter for the relevant training institutions and employing local authorities.

Mr. Jim Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what steps the Government will take to reduce the geographical disparity in the ratio of youth workers to young people. [70296]

Mr. Mudie

It is for each local authority to decide its priorities and the level of funding for each of the services for which it is responsible, including the youth service, in the light of local needs.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will set up a Youth Work Ethics Committee to regulate the youth worker profession. [70297]

The Government have no plans to set up a Youth Work Ethics Committee.
