§ Mr. CabornThe A49 Hereford North-South Relief Road (the Hereford bypass) has been withdrawn from the national trunk road programme. However, the Secretary of State is aware that the Herefordshire Council wishes to continue to protect the bypass line for possible future Herefordshire Council road schemes. He currently has before him a planning appeal in respect of proposed development on the line of the route and the hon. Member will therefore understand that I cannot prejudice his consideration of that appeal by commenting further on the issue.
