§ Mr. GalbraithInformation on the number of cataract operations carried out in NHS hospitals in Scotland during 1998 is not yet available. Provisional figures for the period 1 January to 30 September 1998 show that the number of cataract operations performed in Scotland was 13,936, of which 1,179 were undertaken in the Argyll and Clyde Health Board area.
From 1 July 1999, this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.
