The Prime Minister has received a Petition signed by many people, calling for Collier Row Police Station to be retained.
427WMy right hon. Friend the Home Secretary has received several letters from Mrs. Burgess, and from an hon. Member on her behalf, about the proposed closure of Chislehurst Police Station.
The Receiver tells me that in addition:
as to 28–30 High Street, Wanstead, following public objections to the sale of the site for redevelopment, a public inquiry took place in December 1998. The proposed purchaser's planning application has now been rejected; as to Manchester Road, Isle of Dogs, local residents are objecting to the sale of land adjoining a police office, for housing development; andas to 23–24 Station Road and 1–11 Rosslyn Crescent, Harrow, the members of a mosque adjoining the site have objected to the sale of land to a housing association by open tender as they wish to acquire the site for a mosque.
