HL Deb 01 December 1999 vol 607 c45WA
Earl Attlee

asked Her Majesty's Government:

For each of HM Armed Forces, how many "redress of grievance" cases have been related to the exercise of summary jurisdiction in the last 12-month period for which figures are available.[HL78]

Lord Burlison

Redress of grievance cannot be submitted by service personnel against summary trial proceedings. Personnel may, however, request a review of summary trial dealing. The figures for the period 1 November 1998 to 31 October 1999 are as follows:

RN: 7
RAF: 2

The Army does not hold these figures centrally, and could only provide them at disproportionate cost.

Earl Attlee

asked Her Majesty's Government:

For each of HM Armed Forces, how many "redress of grievance" cases are outstanding after more than eight weeks, in respect of

(a) officers; and (b) other ranks. [HL80]

Lord Burlison

The figures for cases dealt with by the three Services at unit level are not held centrally. However, it is possible to provide figures for cases that have reached Service Board level that are currently outstanding after more than eight weeks following initial receipt at MoD Headquarter level.
