To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when the Defence Sales Organisation of the Ministry of Defence was informed of the visit of Senator Pinochet of Chile to the United Kingdom in September and October 1998; and over what parts of his programme they were consulted by British Aerospace. [holding answer 28 October 1998]: The Defence Export Services Organisation of my Department first became aware of the visit of Senator Pinochet to the UK around 6 October. They were not consulted by British Aerospace over any part of his programme.
