HC Deb 26 October 1998 vol 318 cc63-4W
Mr. Oaten

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will publish the 1997 budget for the access to work scheme, indicating how much of the budget was used in that year. [56287]

Mr. Andrew Smith

Responsibility for the subject of the question has been delegated to the Employment Service agency under its Chief Executive. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Leigh Lewis to Mr. Mark Oaten, dated October 1998: As the Employment Service is an Executive Agency, the Minister of State has asked me to reply direct to your question asking him to publish the 1997 Access to Work budget indicating how much of the budget was used. This is something which falls within the responsibilities delegated to me as Chief Executive of the Agency. Expenditure on Access to Work in 1997–98 was £15.357m out of a budget for the programme of £19m. I hope this is helpful.
