To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will make a statement on progress on the Birmingham Northern Relief Road and projected completion of its various stages. [55314]

Progress on the BNRR depends on the outcome of the statutory challenge to the Orders for the Scheme, which was heard on 5 and 6 October. Assuming the decision is in the Department's favour, and there is no appeal, then the Orders for the scheme can be implemented. This should take about a year, with the road opening about three years after that.
