To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what assessment he has made of the adequacy of the staffing and information technology available to the Rail Users Consultative Committees. [60809]

The responsibility for the Rail Users' Consultative Committees and the Central Rail Users' Consultative Committee rests with the Office of the Rail Regulator.

Following a request from that Office, I have agreed that my officials should undertake a staff inspection of these Committees. Work on this began earlier this week.
