§ Mr. HainFigures provided by the Office for National Statistics estimate that 578,000 men and 1,388,000 women in the UK will benefit from the National Minimum Wage Act 1998. Of these 1,966,000, 221,000 are young people aged between 18 and 21.
Comparable figures are not available for Wales. However, it is estimated that 133,000 people in Wales should benefit.
