HC Deb 19 November 1998 vol 319 cc791-2W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received concerning the problems facing sheepmeat, beef and dairy production; and if he will make a statement. [59517]

Mr. Hain

[holding answer 19 October 1998]: Ministers are required under the terms of the Ministerial Code always to make efficient and cost-effective travel arrangements. The rules on travel for Ministers are the same as those that applied under the previous Administration.

Since May 1997, no Minister in my Department has used an aircraft belonging to the RAF or privately chartered an aircraft. In the year 1 May 1996 to 30 April 1997, the Department incurred costs of £7,837.27 on such travel.
