Mr. Webb

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many appeals relating to(a) incapacity benefits, (b) income support and (c) severe disablement allowance determined by social security appeal tribunals concerned the all work test for incapacity for (i) 1995–96, (ii) 1996–97 and (iii) 1997–98; what proportion of the appeals in each benefit category for these years related to the all work test; what proportion of all work test appeals in each benefit category for these years were determined without a oral hearing; and in how many all work test appeals for these years the claimant was at least partially successful, in (1) appeals determined after an oral hearing and (2) appeals determined without such a hearing.
