§ Mrs. Galbraith[holding answer 12 May 1998]: The precise information requested is hot held centrally since the waiting times data collected nationally do not explicitly identify patients waiting for breast cancer treatment. Information is collected nationally on the number of women who were admitted to hospital from the waiting list with a breast cancer-related diagnosis and who were later discharged following medical or surgical treatment. The relevant information for the years ending 31 March 1996 and 1997 and the latest available for the year ending 31 March 1998 is set out in the table.
