§ Mr. FatchettIraq's record on human rights is appalling, as our annual report on human rights made clear. The latest report from the UN Special Rapporteur Max Van-Der Stoel concluded that the situation had deteriorated still further since his last report to the Commission on Human Rights in Geneva. On 21 April the Commission adopted a tough resolution, drafted by the UK as EU Presidency, which strongly criticised the Iraqi regime.
