To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what steps he is taking concerning the future management and governance of Wakefield College following the ruling of the industrial tribunal in respect of the unfair dismissal of staff previously employed at the college; and if he will make a statement. Further education colleges are independent bodies and as such are responsible for management issues.

We are currently consulting on proposals for changes in college governance, including representation for staff, open decision making and accountability of senior management.
