§ Mr. IngramIn December 1997 fifteen RUC officers took part in a research visit to New York, which had been approved by the Chief Constable. The group of police officers, led by an Assistant Chief Constable and including Superintendents, Chief Inspectors, Inspectors and a Constable, observed a number of policing initiatives currently in practice within the New York Police Department. These included police management, performance measurement, community policing and community relations activities at both Headquarters and local precinct level. The total cost is not readily determinable.
