HC Deb 16 March 1998 vol 308 cc444-5W
Mr. Matthew Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what are the current security classifications of the newsletters produced for the staff of(a) the Specialist Procurement Services Agency of his Department (b) the Naval Bases and Supply Agency and (c) the RAF Maintenance Group; how often each newsletter is produced; and when each newsletter was first produced. [33858]

Mr. Spellar

This is a matter for the Chief Executives of the Agencies concerned. I have asked them to write to the hon. Member.

Letter from Ken Procter to Mr. Matthew Taylor, dated 16 March 1998: I am replying to your question to the Secretary of State for Defence about the current security classifications of newsletters produced for the staff of the Royal Air Force Maintenance Group Defence Agency, because this matter falls within my area of responsibility as the Acting Chief Executive of the Royal Air Force Maintenance Group Defence Agency. There are no Agency newsletters produced for staff within the Maintenance Group Defence Agency as a whole.

Letter from N. J. Bennett to Mr. Matthew Taylor, dated 16 March 1998: I am replying to your Question to the Secretary of State for Defence about the current security classifications of the newsletters produced for the staff of Specialist Procurement Services (SPS), as this matter falls within my area of responsibility as Chief Executive of that Agency. SPS produces a newsletter in the form of an "in-house" magazine called "The Specialist". The magazine, which is unclassified, is published 6 times a year and the first issue was produced in April 1997. Copies of the newsletter are sent to all SPS staff and our MOD customers. I hope this information is helpful, but please contact me if you require further clarification.

Letter from John Trewby to Mr. Matthew Taylor, dated 16 March 1998: The Secretary of State for Defence has asked me to reply to your Question about the newsletter for the Naval Bases and Supply Agency (NBSA) as this falls within my area of responsibility. The current newsletter of the NBSA is entitled "First Issue" and is unclassified. It was first published in October 1995 following the formation of the Director General Naval Bases and Supply organisation. This corporate magazine has remained in circulation since the launch of the NBSA in December 1996 and continues to be published on a quarterly basis.
