§ Dawn PrimaroloCustoms and Excise give high priority to tackling the commercial smuggling of drugs, to the detection and forfeiture of drugs-related money, and to the smuggling of firearms, paedophile material, alcohol and tobacco. Their enforcement work is based on the deployment of frontline anti-smuggling officers at ports, airports and elsewhere, backed up by specialist investigators and intelligence staff and systems. Customs work closely with the police and other agencies, both in the UK and abroad.
