HC Deb 25 June 1998 vol 314 cc619-20W
Mr. Michael J. Foster

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many(a) pensioner households and (b) pensioners there are in Worcester. [46113]

Mr. Denham

The administration of Retirement Pension is a matter for Peter Mathison, the Chief Executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to my hon. Friend.

Letter from Peter Mathison to Mr. Michael J. Foster, dated 24 June 1998: The Secretary of State for Social Security has asked me to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question asking how many (a) pensioner households and (b) pensioners there are in Worcester. The information is not available in the format requested. Records do not show the number of pensioner households. Data is available for the number of pension accounts held by each Benefits Agency (BA) office. Records show that the BA office in Worcester maintains the pension accounts of 27,199 pensioners. This figure does not include pensioners paid by Automated Credit Transfer (ACT). However, the national ratio of order book cases to ACT payments is approximately 2:1. I hope you find this reply helpful.
