§ Mr. MichaelResearch literature on various aspects of effective policing was recently reviewed by the Home Office Research and Statistics Directorate as part of the Comprehensive Spending Review.
The Home Office Police Research Group is in close contact with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) which is evaluating community policing in the United States. The NIT is currently hosting a fact finding visit by Police Research Group researchers, who will review the United States Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, which is responsible for promoting and funding community policing strategies across the United States.

§ Mr. MichaelMy Department regularly exchanges information with foreign Governments and police forces about policing issues and often receives visitors from 187W them. We have sent copies of the reports of the Home Office Police Research Group, which include those on community policing strategies, to 44 countries.
On 9 and 10 June, we hosted a European Union seminar, "Partnerships in Reducing Crime", covering community safety, policing methods for tackling anti-social behaviour, and partnerships to reduce juvenile crime. The key findings of the seminar will be reported to the European Union Police Co-operation Working Group with recommendations for follow-up action. Representatives from Canada and the USA took part in the seminar, as well as representatives from across Europe.
