To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Barnsley, East and Mexborough (Mr. Ennis) on 21 May 1998, Official Report, column 454, regarding driving under the influence of drugs, what is the most recent estimate made by the Forensic Science Service regarding the prevalence of drug/driving cases; and what were estimates for each of the last 10 years. The Forensic Science Service (FSS) has not made such an estimate. Figures are available for the last three years on cases submitted to the FSS by police forces. These are:
