HC Deb 02 June 1998 vol 313 c156W
Helen Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what assessment he has made of the effect on weekend traffic conditions on the A49 and on Cromwell Avenue in Warrington of building a new Junction 8 on the M62. [43385]

Ms Glenda Jackson

I have asked the Chief Executive of the Highways Agency, Mr. Lawrie Haynes, to write to my hon. Friend.

Letter from Lawrie Haynes to Helen Jones, dated 2 June 1998: I have been asked by the Minister for Transport to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question about the M62. The results of recent roadside traffic surveys carried out by the Highways Agency in this area are still being assessed. However, we expect them to confirm that the provision of the new junction would reduce significantly weekend traffic on the A49 and on Cromwell Avenue in Warrington.
