§ 25. Mr. WilkinsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will encourage cancer treatment in hospitals with specialist cancer research facilities. [42202]
§ Mr. BoatengThe Calman/Hine report on cancer services recognises the importance of high quality research and recommends that this is carried out throughout the cancer care network—in cancer units, cancer centres; primary care and within the voluntary sector. This means that the necessary population is available for research; there is close liaison between the service and the research; and the results leading to improved care can be disseminated quickly.
