HC Deb 01 June 1998 vol 313 c62W
Dr. Stoate

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what steps are being taken to make occupational health services available to staff working in primary care within the National Health Service. [43599]

Mr. Win Griffiths

It is primarily for general practitioners (GPs) as independent contractors to look after their own health and that of their staff. However, the Welsh Office has been involved in discussions with the Welsh Council of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and the Welsh General Medical Services Committee (WGMSC) about this issue. We are also aware that some health authorities in Wales are exploring ways of setting up a service on a local basis.
