To ask the hon. Member for Middlesbrough, representing the Church Commissioners, what steps are being taken to ensure a Christian dimension to the Millennium dome. [42032]

The New Millennium Experience Company, which is responsible for the Dome's contents and funding, is in close touch with the Churches, and indeed members of other faiths, through the Lambeth Group. The detailed design for the "Spirit Zone" is being undertaken in close consultation with the Group and the Archbishops' Officer for the Millennium, and the Minister without Portfolio has made specific assurances that the Christian story will be a central part of the Millennium Experience.
