ECGD' s exposure, which covers interest as well as the principal value of the guaranteed loans, currently amounts to £531 million.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if she will make a statement on the impact of recent disturbances in Indonesia on British exports to that country. [42918]

[holding answer 21 May 1998]The economic and political crisis being experienced by Indonesia has inevitably affected UK exports to Indonesia. Exports fell by 50.3 per cent. in the first quarter of this year.
