To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions how many drink-driving accidents occurred in (i) 1994, (ii) 1995, (iii) 1996 and (iv) 1997. [43483]

The estimated number of accidents resulting in injury which involved illegal alcohol levels was:

  • 1994: 9,900
  • 1995: 10,180
  • 1996: 10,8501
